Question primarily for Rod (sorry mate, I know you've been inundated lately!) but anyone else feel free to respond...

Presumably we have no choice other than to enter the two county cups in which we participate each year...? - but also presumably even the organisers acknowledge that they're a waste of time since not only do the League clubs field kids' teams but we do too and it's only the likes of Studley, Rocester etc who take them seriously?

That's not to say of course that the lads who played the other night didn't benefit from the experience...

... but the lack of interest from HTFC (even the most staunch fan I know didn't make the trip) suggests we could live without it...?

For me county cups can't be taken seriously when major clubs only bring the youth sides but having said that any team who are in the competition should field their strongest side but like premiership teams they don't so it's a farce:(

I don't think they are cumpulsory, and the same as every Cup we enter, we must have to apply or register our interest.
You don't just appear in the FA Cup draw, you have to let the FA know.

Without a regular reserve team, then the Cups could be used as a tool to field "second" teams in order to gain "first" team experience and play against a level of players they wouldn't normally come across. On the second hand, when we play Wolves, it will increase the Clubs coffers and give "first" team players a chance to show their worth against Football League opposition.

They also make money for the County Associations that we are members of.

Teams from certain Premiership treat the Carling Cup with the attitude to which you refer, but they won't ever scrap that will they Glyn?

It is compulsory for us to enter our parent County Senior Cup, in our case that is the Birmingham County FA Senior Cup. We are not forced to enter the Staffs Senior Cup but it is has been on our fixture list for a very long time and is a little bit of a tradition to enter the competition.

I agree with all the comments with regard to the Senior Cups, they have become farsical over the years with very few club's treating them serious.
We lose money on practically every Senior Cup game and hope that we get the Wolves/Baggies etc where at least we have an outside chance of balancing the books.

FA Cup and FA Trophy are be entry, do you seriously want me not to enter these competitions. Wont happen, Best competition in the world, Chance of making money,

Thanks Rod, thought the entry into the BSC must be compulsory and you and I agree on every aspect of all of this; and of course we want to continue to enter the FA Cup and Trophy, we've won the one, let's have a decent go at the other one next season....

From the look of the ones we saw pre-season we'd have a better chance of winning the Welsh Cup if they let us enter again

I was slightly frustrated by our team selection for the Rocester game - although I fully understand why it was done because of our injury situation so this is not a criticism.

However, if you look at who is left in the competiition, I do believe that we had a realisitic chance of winning the cup this season and a night out at Stoke's ground would have been nice, but never mind.
