View Full Version : Tonight's humiliation

THink I've used this title before!
Things are getting worse when I thought we'd hit rock bottom! I am afraid that the suspicion I had concerning better players leaving us to be replaced by sub-standard replacements is now confirmed. We now have two holding midfielders, a centre forward at right back, a right back at left back and a kid playing up front who, it appears, can only play in midweek for us.
The planning is woeful - players are dispensed with on a whim and replacements whistled up from step 4/5 clubs. I suspect that Knoxy, Macca and Fosser were on decent money - if the replacements are on the same money then they are not worth it. If they are not, has the budget been cut?
I think PS has now lost the confidence of everyone concerned and I don't see how his position can be defended. Yes we have players missing, but the quality in the squad isn't there anyway and the best players we have are teenagers. Fine if we are building for the future, but we have been doing this for 3-4 seasons and I want success (in relative terms) now rather than being assured that it will come one day.
Once again an ordinary, well organised, fit side has totally stuffed us - it is really depressing:(

It is depressing.
The only problem with sacking PS is it would be going against everything we have moaned about in the last 7/8 years. Either way Terry or the commitee cant win. Sack PS and who can we get in? All the decent manager are in jobs. Maybe follow Telfords lead and source a manager who has a team top of the league in a lower league? Would they want to come? Maybe we are just not accepting the unibond is our level and mid table is the best we can hope for.
What more can we do? We seem to sign most the better players from lower leagues and that doesnt work. We sign experience and that doesnt work either.
What you can guarantee though is all our players will move on at some point and be successful somewhere else. It appears that most players do not want to play for Hednesford. PS or Alex Ferguson, theres no way we can win with players who frankly dont want to play for us.

In my opinion we have players who are not up to this level and will struggle to keep us in this division. We have no creation in midfield and I honestly cannot see where the next goal is coming from. The defence tonight were poor and the whole performance was disjointed.
I am very depressed about our situation and cannot see any improvement on the horizon and wonder where our inspiration will come from.As has been said we can't go on sacking managers but if things are not improving I would like to think we would do something before we end up in Unibond 1 South.
The Hednesford's managers job seems a poisened chalice and Keys Park a graveyard for proven strikers since Super Joe left.We need something to give our spirits a lift as it looks like the 3 players who recently left have slotted in straight away at their new clubs which certainly leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.I accept there were reasons they left but it still makes me think what might have been.
We are back to the hardcore supporters who turned up in the not so long ago bad old days and we cannot afford to lose any more fans as the chances of extra revenue from gates is dropping dramatically and we need the cash for better players.
I hope somebody can sort it out as we appear to be heading nowhere at the moment.

Martin O Connor is now free.
I think all has been said about injuries and players coming and going but the Club need to look at the style of play and tactics being used.
We clearly set out tonight to play for a draw -their first goal we had 11 back and the defenders fell over themselves, thus they scored.
Clearly no player is capable of running with the ball, free kicks are still a disgrace with all the players packing into 5 yards of space.
Its back to the drawing board time!!!
ps I had a go at Mario on last Saturday thread but tonight he came inside and was involved in the game more.

He was very much hampered by the pitch on Saturday.

He'll be hampered by the pitch next season all right if we do get relegated. Every other week we'll be at a Rushall type grpund.
Can someone please tell me why we have all 11 back to defend corners? I do not have a UEFA badge, but logic tells me that having all 11 back vreates confusion and means that you have no out ball if you do clear your lines. Am I missing something???

There was very little or no penetration from Midfield last night and we struggled to find passes that found another white shirt. There is no point in aportioning blame to any particular player, as just like Saturday it was a poor overall team performance.
The way the team is playing at the minute, I fail to see where the majority of our goals are going to come from, and worry that our goal difference will soon be irrepearable. The revolving door of players hasn't helped, I think we have used something like 22 so far and in only 2 months -that doesn't really fill me with much confidence. Injuries have indeed played a part, but as I have said before it shouldn't make that much difference:
If Paul Robinson or Chris Adam are injuried, does that make another player play poorly? The answer is of course no! The confidence of everyone is shot to pieces and after a decent run of results (even if some of the performances were not good) we have fallen back down.
Jimmy Mullen was around last night, his loss has probably effected us a lot more than some realise but I do like the way our new face on the bench has done things during games. Shouting guidance and instructions and making himself heard.
Some of the players may well not be good enough for our current level, some have been given a chance and haven't been able (so far) to prove themselves on a consistant enough level. This may change and I would have to say we need to be patient as sacking PS could be very counter productive. Patience though is something that football doesn't often take notice of.

I haven't lost confidence - we also haven't been building for the future with PS for 3-4 seasons.
Elder, did you miss our new assistant & Phil shouting instructions at various times during the game and also advising players what to do? I know I stand in the tunnell but they weren't exactly shouting quietly!

I mentioned the fact I was impressed with our new Assistant, because he was shouting and giving guidance. Punctuation is a wonderful thing!! I haven't heard others in similar positions come out with the kind of thing he was saying at Rushall. That is a good thing.
I couldn't hear Phil as much as him, but I was standing exactly opposite him so could see what he was doing during the match.
I also think that some players have lost confidence, otherwise they wouldn't be playing like they are doing. This in turn effects the confidence of some fans and they get depressed :(
The good news is that confidence is temporary and class is permanent. :clap2:

Yes there has been lots of things that have caused the decline in our play, and they have been well documented on this site. I don't feel that sacking PS is the way, he clearley is lacking in confidence but who can blame him with fans shouting they " want him out".
The fans must also stop jeering there own players, it is counter productive and only makes the players more "Shakey" the club needs to get players fit and fast, they are the life blood of any team! PS needs to get into the team more in the warm up, and we can look to starting a move up the league. This season is over already so we should look to next season and build from now, it is hard to say it but i have!. Please give PS and the players a chance, as the injured players come back so will our form! so lets get behind the manager and team whatever the result, after all it's our club and why should we heckle our selves down the leagues?
Let's get behind the team at ALL home games, and see how there confidence will start to grow...:D:rolleyes:

Buxton played very well. Everytime you had the ball you looked like scoring, and thats when our defence gave it a half arsed effort to keep you out. Will be moving well up the table if you continue to play like that.

LOL, light the blue touch paper and stand well clear.
We've lost a few and it hasn't gone down too well. Maybe you could give us some tips on how to cope with losing games since you've had a lot of practice at that this season?

Yeah 3rd from bottom isn't the best I must admit, but playing the likes of Exeter, Torquay, Oxford Etc make up for that and being on Television of course. See you played Buxton and Gateshead in the mighty heights of the Unibond not so long ago.
Hope to see ya in the Trophy, we could do with a decent start in that.

.....used to promotion too, plus a few visits to the old Wembley Stadium, "sadly!" instant promotion this season won't see us at the new Wembley though
BTW ... which league will you go down to from the BSP at the end of this season? :D
Enjoy it while you can, a mere minnow amongst the elite! ;)

Yeah we've been the old wembley 3 times, won Fa Trophy twice..... To be fair I'd laugh if Torquay didn't get straight back up. I'd love them to go bump!!!!!!
