I hope not because he deserves to have another 30 odd games on his own watching the lacklustre football his team severved up yesterday after all he wants us all to go forth and multiply, which I will do ... but will I be interested to come back next season ... time will tell.

Tough question. when we're good we're really good, when we're bad we are really bad. Just have to look at Nigel Clough at Burton. He did nothing with them for a few years now they are closing on a football league place. I think Starbuck will get it right, we all wan't success at once but is it realisitic. Because we were in the Conference a few years ago it doesn't mean we deserve to win this league.

This is going to sound repetitive as I've said it before.Having signed the players Knox/Macpherson/Forsdick but they are no longer with the Pitmen I do question strategy as last seasons revolving door policy did not work and these guys are goalscorers which was lacking last season. Where will the goals come from now?I thought (wrongly as it currently happens) that the defence would be tighter.Adams to right back bring in left back(as was required last January but still not done)will help but apart from Joe Williams who turned us down we still await activity on that one.Great start 3 wins from 3 versus Welsh full timers in pre-season and 3 out of 4 in league followed by poor run and then bounced back to reasonable unbeaten run until yesterday when we thought all our troubles were so far away(sorry )Anyway the Manager will be given the chance after apologising to the fans and I think if we take that outburst as a passion for wanting to get it right then he CAN do it. But WILL he - I'm still unsure..I hope he can but doubts remain. Certainly wins v Buxton and Willenhall needed to take pressure off. Will this thread stay open for long??

I might be wrong but didn't young Cloughie win the league in his 1st full season with the Brewers?

I think he probably did. They spent ages trying to win the southern league, then switched to unibond and won that didnt they? Maybe his first season, then they spent a fair few years down the bottom of the conference and they were definately calling for his head. He turned that round and managed to draw with Man Utd along the way.

I'm not sayin PS will do the same but im sure if he's here a few years he will win something.

Forsdick went for more money, nothing left to say about him. McPherson undermimed the manager so he's off. Knoxx touted himself to other clubs. Anyone else would have released them as well. PS hasn't replaced the quality which is the only thing you can really shoot him down for. He's trying but if the players dont want to come, they dont want to come.

Don't these scenarios happen in football all the time? Isn't it up to the manager to manage rather than shipping people out at the first sign of trouble? What research was done before these guys were signed?

Our problem is that we are relying too heavily on youth - young lads are probably easier to control, but there is no substitute for experience when you are up against it - ask the ENgland rugby team or Rushall Olympic for that matter!

Some very valid points coming in guys.I think Abacus is right and PS`s outburst was probably borne out of frustration with his team.He obviously cares and I believe he will surround himself with players who want to play for him and more importantly for us the fans.He has, however, not got a lot of time to start putting that together. He cannot keep changing his team and has to blend youth and experience.Players will have bad games from time to time but that does not necessarily mean they should be dropped for the next one.Does Phil really know what his best team is?I don`t think he does and this causes frustration.
Tonights game will be interesting.I expect him to bring back Dovey and Whittington and we will see which of our players has the heart and bottle to scrap out a result.
As for the attendance I don`t expect more than 300 to turn up.I think those who stay away may miss some goals....or is that wishful thinking on my part.
Yes I think it might be but I live in hope.
