Very unhappy to see Knoxy on the bench. I don't know what PS is up to but we need to win today and in order to win you need goals. We seem to be going there with the intention of keeping it very tight - Hawthorne has been really ineffectual, but continues to get picked
The bloke will be getting really brassed off now

Well if rumours are true and other teams are putting 7 days in for him PS has is not giving him much reason to stay.

As you should know, forwards are only effective with good service. Michael Owen being a prime example. Mind you, you were never an Andy Bell fan, but now that he is playing for a side that will create openings he is showing that he is a true goalscorer - as is Knox

Half Time - North Ferriby United 0-0 Hednesford
Hednesford in control against a very robust NFU side. Ward headed a cross a foot wide of the post, and a run from Mario Pedro lead to him chipping the ball over the bar, but still goalless.
PS - I have taken over from my Dad for the 2nd half in recieving updates from Fozzie due to the unexpected events noted above.

Excellent. Shows the commitment from the H family, that in time of personal trial they still think of us.
They should get a KnightHOOD for services to the Hednesford faithful.

North Ferriby United 1-0 Hednesford
Continued early 2nd half pressure from the home team has resulted in a goal.
Andrew H
22nd-September-2007, 15:17
North Ferriby No.4 takes down Heath in the box and a penalty is awarded. Ross Dyer steps up to take the spot kick and it is saved by the NFU keeper and cleared for a corner. Still....

Why are we exposing an 18 yr old to a high pressure situation? Are we in such a state that we are having to rely on kids?
Andrew H
22nd-September-2007, 15:19
Apparently, NFU keeper was useless in 1st half and could barely catch a ball. 2nd half he's saved a penalty and 2 certain goals....

North Ferriby 1-0 Hednesford
Chris Adam on Mario Pedro
Not created much in chances since the goal, their keeper has been upto anything that has come his way. Couple of bookings for NFU, they seem to be getting a bit overexcited.

Should he really be playing football if its a lot to ask for him to score a penalty against a team bottom of the league? Isn't this his third full season?

Hi All
Sorry I'm late....local beer festival and you know how it is!!

A fair comment Mark, but we do seem to be asking boys to do the work of men. Ross is still learning and probably hasn't been in the situation before, i.e. we are on the slide and playing a critical game with a lot riding on it.

Because of our dismal form of late,I would have thought that a more experienced player could take them. Not all players are good penalty takers and Ross doesn't even take free kicks that regularly.
Perton Pitman
22nd-September-2007, 15:46
That says it all - if for nothing else, PS should be lambasted for leaving it so late to bring on a forward. His judgement is strange to say the least, particularly given the tactics against Stratford last week. The question is do the club have confidence in his judgement?

He's got enough experience in games like this. We were in a promotion battle last year and a relegation battle the year before that. I can't see how its any different now. He will play regardless of his form which gives him no incentive to improve. Please tell me if I'm wide of the mark but I thats my opinion.

Thanks for the updates.
Don't know where we go from here. I fear we are on a terminal decline and something drastic needs to change.
We have too many mediocre players, those that are capable (and there are 3 or 4) are being dragged down by the others. We have made one or two good signings, but we have signed a couple of turkeys too. The squad is not capable of competing at this level
See you all Monday

See Mario gets subbed when things go wrong. No change there, then. Thank heavens for the points we got when we were trying to play attacking football rather than 4-5-1, or we'd be in te relegation places.
