Leek Town are still in big financial trouble and there is now talk of the possibility of the club dropping down a couple of leagues or even folding altogether and a new club forming hoping to start again at the bottom of the pyramid. There is a meeting for supporters to attend on Saturday to discuss the possibility of starting up a new club if the current club folds with the club having to start at the NWCFL Division 2 and having to groundshare at somewhere such as Newcastle Town, Kidsgrove or Buxton.
It really is a shame that this keeps happening to clubs at this level as nobody likes to see another club fold, although I am sure people would blame the owners for running the club poorly but at the end of the day evey club has a hardcore following and it undoubtedly hard on them.
With Leek being the most local club to us this season along with Ilkeston probably we may face the possibility of losing yet another local game even though Leek is about 35-40 miles away, and questions would then have to be asked about whether Leek would be replaced at this late stage with the new divisions all set up or whether the Unibond Premier would only run with 21 teams.
Just goes to show when you look at other clubs problems that we should be grateful that we have a club and a team to watch and support each week without having to worry about the possibility of it no longer existing.

Quite right Lee and I feel I must also state that supporting doesn't just mean watching games.

Since I've been on the management committee my eyes have been opened to the amount of support and help that is needed within the club and not just on matchdays.

When I see the likes of Terry Brumpton, Julie, Mark & Maria Littler,Terry McMahon, Rod Hadley, etc etc, and how much hard work they actually put in it's amazing.

There can never be enough people behind the scenes and I am sure they would react positively to the offer of help no matter how small. These people are supporters just like the rest of us and if it wasn't for their heavy involvement this club would have done a Leek Town years ago.

On the subject of supporting this also needs to be the case on the social side as well.We are trying to organize many different functions nowadays i.e family discos, quiz nights etc these are excellent evenings and just need your support to bring extra revenue into the club, and they are good opportunities to bond the club and supporters together and take us forward to the heights we all want to achieve.

I know you will all think what difference can I make but it only needs maybe another 20-30 I's at functions and another 50/100/150 on matchdays and believe me it will make a huge difference.

Sorry for the rant but after years of struggle we are now that close to making this club self sufficient.

Give it a thought everyone.

Keith
