Reckon we are about right at 18/1. What's going on at Leigh to warrant such short odds - are they throwing money at it??

They've gone full time and have a new ground although I'm not sure it'll be ready for the start of the season, they may have to play some of the first games at Hilton Park (the old ground not the Motorway Services).
Not sure of their new signings apart from Jordan Stepien from Bury- he was on loan at Nuneaton last season, Thomas Moore from Prescot, Tom Field from Vauxhall and somebody from Fleetwood.
They also have the entertaining Steve Bleasdale as Manager, you may remember him as the Peterborough Manager who resigned just before kick off of one of their games in 'Big Ron, Manager' on Sky.

A few changes in the odds, most notably Eastwood Town who have absolutely no money at all and don't pay silly wages to players... honestly, being backed down all the way to 2nd favourites behind BPA who seem to revel in the fact that they DO have loads of money and ARE paying silly wages to players. Theese two are followed by Leigh 'advance tickets not necessary, we have 9,800 seats spare every game' Genesis and Boston 'we're too good for this tinpot league' United.
We're still hanging on at 20/1 so nobody has noticed we've made a few decent signings or more likely nobody actually cares right now. I'm sure it will suit Dean that we're off the radar as far as the bookies and no doubt other clubs are concerned. Nantwich odds look decent at 28/1 but it's hard to see past Bradford or Boston for the title in my opinion. I can feel a poll coming on.......
Current list:
Bradford Pa 9/2 Eastwood Town 5/1 Leigh Genesis 6/1 Boston Utd 7/1 Guiseley 9/1 Buxton Town 10/1 Fc United 14/1 Witton Albion 16/1 Marine 18/1 Hednesford Town 20/1 Cammell Laird 20/1 Nantwich Town 28/1 Worksop Town 33/1 Kendal Town 40/1 Whitby Town 40/1 Ashton Utd 40/1 Frickley Athletic 40/1 Matlock Town 40/1 Ilkeston Town 40/1 Prescot Cables 50/1 North Ferriby United 66/1 Ossett Town 66/1

Have to be worth a couple of quid with our odds.

Have to be worth a couple of quid with our odds.
A couple of quid 'each way' looks about right to me at these odds.
Any more would smack of 'the heart ruling the head' but recent signings give some cause for optimism.

Odds are from paddypower as the "leagues preferred betting partner" is no longer bothering to list them.
Eastwood have now been installed as clear favourites prior to the big kick off. This is due solely to their stunning pre-season which has included wins over the likes of Southwell City, Long Eaton and Keyworth United, oh hang on, they only drew against the last two. It certainly has nothing to do with money as they don't have any and are NOT paying silly wages at this level, we all know how stupid the bookmakers are when laying odds.
Leigh Genesis and their team of full time marketing executives will have to slum it at their old ground until at least November (by which time half the league fixtures have been played) as the rugby clubs shiny new stadium is not ready. The rugby club don't care, they're moving out this month and don't play again until January which will leave Hilton Park at the mercy of the local 'characters'. So if Leigh are still there when we visit in December pray for snow.
Bradford PA's millionaire chairman has been ridiculed over his planned 20,000 seat stadium however it seems this is all a part of a grand masterplan. The stadium isn't for the fans, it's so that there is room for the squad as BPA continue their policy of buying every non league footballer in the country and sticking them on 15 year contracts. This will ensure the opoosition are left fielding supporters teams, easing BPA's passage through the non league pyramid.
Boston look the best odds at 15/2 but I'm not sure whether this is where my 50p will go. Boston SHOULD win this league, they've pretty much kept the squad together that was comfortable in the BSN last season and even added to it. The question is will I get the payout when the F.A. find some reason to relegate them to the Dog and Duck Lincolnshire Regional League for season 2009/10? I'll have to investigate that.
