Just had the E&S through the door and they say that Dean Edwards is the new manager. The story says that his appointment is linked to new investment in the club.
Not impressed with Edwards' track record, but mention of new investment is promising. Let's hope he has some good local connections as he has to build a decent squad quickly. He has brought 2 players with him from Willenhall, but they had a mixed season to say the least!
PS was also sacked says the article

The two Willenhall players are their leading scorer Tyrone Barnett and Dan Harvey who, if my memory serves me well was a member (captain?) of our Youth Team a few seasons ago- think he also made a few 1st team appearances.
Will be interesting to see what the new investment is.

I think these are two interesting signings.
Danny Harvey was outstanding in two Willenhall games that I saw last season and in the play off game against Chasetown, the previous season. He has matured now into a very strong and brave centre back at senior level, after being an exceptional Youth Team Captain in the 2004/05 season.
Tyrone Barnett has been described to me as the 'best striker in the BGB Midlands division' on his day and I am sure that his pace and goals will be just what we need in the Unibond Premier. 22 League and League Cup goals is a pretty decent return by any standards! http://www.southern-football-league.co.uk/scorers/midlands.asp?section=top-goalscorers

Dan Harvey is a great capture for you if it has been confirmed. Seriously solid defender and consistent in most of the games he played for us.

Would this be the Tyrone Barnett who played for Telford?

Thought so. Looking down the list of BG leading scorers and Luke Corbett's name appears. Anyone remember him???
Hallo

I remember Luke, came on loan from???????? Can't remember now, some old div 3 team at the time. Then again he was only small lad we he was with us, was meant to a promising star for his team. Can't remember Barnett, was he the biggish centre forward?

Spot on Andy P, Cheltenham Town it was!
I remember saying at the time that I thought Ross Dyer was better, (but then again I was biased!):D

I think Barnett had a spell at Rushall a few years ago before he went to Telford.

something doesn't quite sit right here, why would Starbuck get the sack with 12 months contract left and new investment,Dean Edwards ?????
This could be a bum move...
Who has leaked this to the press if it hasn't been confirmed here first ?
Points arising:
a) We were told that PS hadn't resigned, but don't yet have official confirmation that he was sacked (though I gather the E&S article may have said that?) - might the appropriate phrase in fact be "released from contract" if the rumours we hear about his next position prove to be true?
b) It's not at all uncommon to send a press release to the media but place an embargo on its release. Rod's comment on the "Today's the Day" thread suggest to me that that was done but the E&S chose to break the embargo. I refuse to buy their paper ever again, in protest. (Haven't bought one for about 3 years so I don't know if they will notice....:p)
Well said Glyn....I'm not going to buy the E&S either!! :D
We had the same trouble here with our local rag releasing stories before the embargo date....so they were just excluded from information.:o
They soon came round to apologise.
The Express and Star were in attendance at the press conference which gave us the opportunity to question where the leak came from. We were informed that it was from no one within the club but from a reliable source. It looks like a case of old fashioned reporting where Tim Nash obtained snippets from other managers on the circuit and put two and two together.
Please do not stop buying the paper as in my opinion it is very good for the local non league scene.
I did not send the story out earlier so no embargo was broken, Scott wrote the article after the press conference and posted it on Terry's computer once we sorted how to get online.
