View Full Version : not as bad as it seems
http://www.nonleaguedaily.com/news/index.php?&newsmode=FULL&nid=49872
After reading the attached article it suddenly puts into perspective that it may not be all that bad at Keys Park .
Tamworth have made redundancies today of backroom staff to cut costs and more to follow according to reports, the Chairmen of Witton Albion and Ashton United have left their respective clubs, the manager at Ilkeston does not know if he has a job or not as the club is about to change hands so compared to some we have more than a settled ship.
Living within your means may not be a bad road to follow, if we can just get the crowds back up life would be a lot easier for Terry B and co. A winning team would start that ball rolling but then again 21 other clubs in whatever league we find ourselves in will be hoping for the same things. Whilst on the subject of Leagues I can report that I have not yet had any calls about this subject.

Thanks Rod. Yes, you're right.
Halifax d-day tomorrow, heard on Five Live tonight about other clubs eg Mansfield whose future is far from certain.
A crystal ball would be useful, we've talked for years about clubs folding but it is, (or threatening to), happening far more frequently now and I envisage a major change over the next 10 years.
I'd better not voice my prediction on here, folk might get depressed....

Obviously nothing is certain with the Nuneaton situation at the moment, and nothing has been confirmed for any leagues, but I'm presuming that IF Nuneaton had to move to the Southern League, Hucknall would be reprived, and we would stay where we are in the Unibond. But who knows, there are that many teams having financial trouble that some more movement in the leagues could happen by the time we find out which league we are this time next week.
On the subject of moving leagues, did anyone see the Rushall chairman's reaction

This could get complicated.
Hucknell will be saved if Halifax Town fold or get demoted to the NPL.
If Nuneaton Borough get relegated that would also save Vauxhall Motors. This would mean that the NPL would be a club short so You may still be staying up north where it is grim especially in South Elmsall apart from the football team.

...and IF Halifax only went down to the Blue Sqaure North, wouldn't that mean that Altrincham become the luckiest club in the history of football by surviving three seasons in the Conference on the trot despite finishing in relegation zone?
Fair to say that there won't be many teams playing the same teams as this year! lol

Halifax are either staying in the Conference going to the NPL or out of business. The points they will be deducted for failing to meet the financial rules of the conference will see them relegated and then they get demoted a further division as Lancaster City did last season. Conference North to NPL 1 North.

Ah rite, didn't realise they would go down another league as well.
I think our hopes of going to the Southern League will be well and truly gone very soon

Halifax went into liquidation today.
That means Alty stay in the BSP, Hucknall stay in the BSN and we don't move to the Southern League (I'd guess).

Great! I've been to 14 of Kempster's predicted Southern Premier grounds; the only good thing about staying in the 'Let's kick it in the air and see if it comes down with ice on' league is we'll get two big attendances with FC United. I've just heard their manager say, in all seriousness, that teams are always difficult to play against second time , as they've used the money from the first meeting to get three or four good players. Still, it didn't do us much good with Telford, did it?

Getting a 2000 gate for one match is little consolation for missing out on local derbies against Halesowen and Stourbridge. Games against teams from 50 plus miles away have no edge to them whatsoever - tier 3 football should be all about having some local derbies which generate some interest, but it looks like we may miss out on that:(

Yes some clubs certainly have their problems!

With Exeter now being a 'league' side once again, the local derby fixture (Easter & Boxing Day?) for The Gulls is now Weymouth, some 82 miles away .... along with Barrow, some 350 miles away!!
