We will play Halesowen who lost to Team Bath today and also Stourbridge who went to Leamington and won.
At least they are a bit more local than Leek!

Was at Leamington today, super game with some excellent football played in the circumstances, and (apart from a rash of late bookings which won't carry over to next season anyway) well-refereed by a young ref who imposed his authority on the game early on

Stourbridge battled back well from going behind in the 18th minute, equalised two minutes later and ultimately got the winner in the 117th minute, just as penalties were looming and just after Lewis Solly had made two terrific saves

It's a nice set-up there, very well-organised on and off the pitch (crowd over 1600 today), and I've little doubt that Leamington will be pushing for promotion next season again.

Shame in a way that the Pitmen won't get to go there next season, I imagine most HTFC fans will have been to Stourbridge whose ground is a tip (I'm allowed to say that, I live less than two miles from it...)

In what now seems the unlikely event of us staying in NPL, we would be coming up against someone I know well....

It's essential that we manage to get in the SPL - games against Stourbridge (well done to them and Gary Hackett in particular - a good young manager who has done well on a small budget with a lot of local players) and Halesowen. Other games against old rivals like Rugby also beckon - it will be a tough league, but there will be a few real local derbies which is great after a season of absolutely nothing in that regard.

I bet Chasetown are a bit gutted as they will find it hard to compete with Leamington next year (if they don't get moved into the NPL)

a lot of local players

Returning to this old familiar theme, it was interesting to hear the Stour players celebrating with ".... we are the boys from the Black Country..." as their song after the game yesterday - clear identification with the club they play for and the fans who support them.....

.... while we still want to field the best team we can regardless of origin etc, if it's a choice between a local lad and a "foreigner" of equal or less talent, give me the local lad every time....

Don't think you have been forgiven for when the Hednesford fan ran on the pitch in the FA cup game a few years backdown at Butlin Road, then the pitmen got an equaliser and went on to beat Rugby in the replay;) That was my sons first footie game that he watched:clap2:

Whilst the above comment may undoubtedly be true, the inference from the Club Secretary is that the current team are not good.

This may also be true, but posts have been removed in the past for their negativity, with authors encouraged to provide constructive comments.

Is the one above any different?

Personally, I would assume that Rod made that posting with his tongue so firmly pushed into his cheek that he struck a striking resemblance to Quasimodo with an infected wisdom tooth!

Then again........ :D

Perhaps he did Del, but all I am saying is that others have been pulled up on this Forum over the last few months for what may be regarded by some as 'flippant' comments.
I also recall a 'tongue-in-cheek' comment about NFU meaning 'No Flipping Use' early in the Season, and we all know what they did to us over 2 games!
Perhaps there is a time and place for some comments, but Club Officials should be above it IMO, when it comes to public comments. Maybe I am old-fashioned in that way.

I took him to mean at least he was able to watch a good team (Hednesford) for his first match rather than Rugby. I didn't get the inference that you refer to but I guess if you look hard enough at enough posts then you'll find something eventually.

You should be delighted that Rod DOES take the time and trouble to come on here and post. Some of the information he is able to give out to the supporters is highly informative and he is always quick to answer questions. It doesn't happen on too many other club message boards. Still, lets start knocking the guy so that he stays off the message board shall we, that way everyone can start complaining that there's no information coming their way. Sometimes I despair, I really do.

Dont recall seeing him at the game all those years ago, sorry. He may possibly have been watching Tamworth?

I obviously should be grateful for small mercies, shouldn't I?

Dont despair Steve, it's not worth it. I just think that Club Officials should watch their comments. that's all. My opinion, I think I am still entitled to that, even in the close Season.

Thanks Steve you have answered TGV for me. I was making the reference that goldand black saw a good team, ie Hednesford Town. I even put a smiley on so that my posting would be taken as an attempt at humour. How anyone could draw anything else from a one line comment is totally beyond me.It was meant to be light hearted banter and certainly not flippant. ;)

For the record I was at the game. After close on 20 years at Tamworth I joined the Pitmen at the start of the 2002/03 season and have only missed 3 or 4 games. Two were last season for close family weddings.

Six years at Keys Park and I finally have someone knocking me for my previous connections.

To long in the tooth Steve to let one moan get to me. I have broad shoulders (and a big belly) so I can live with it. I will continue to inform supporters on any subject as quick as I can :gossip:.Big meeting on Wednesday where the Leagues are finalised for the forthcoming season. Will post on home page as soon as I hear something.

:peace::

I can vouch for the latter .. that is the only way I would recognise Rod again!! :D :D
