This match was quite rightly abandoned when a mini monsoon and hurricane rolled into one hit Keys Park just before half time. The Pitmen Reserves were leading 1-0 at the time when the Bromsgrove keeper allowed a pretty tame free kick from Chad slip through his hands.
Main talking points were the new young keeper on work experience from Wolves who looked pretty nervous with his first couple of touches but seemed to settle down after that although he didn't have a lot to do and the return of Reece Styche who was bursting with enthusiasm and couldn't wait to get hold of the ball and take defenders on, usually with great effect. I would be very surprised if Reece didn't get a place on the bench on Saturday at the very least despite his lack of match fitness as I don't think there are any more reserve games scheduled, at least not in the CCL Cup unless tonights is replayed.
With my wife being ill it's the first game I've been to in over a month and I didn't even get a full half. When I were a lad we've have carried on through an earthquake.. they're all softies these days :p

:D
Aye, bring back Dubbin, balls with laces and pitches a la Baseball Ground ankle-deep in mud (and the smell of stale tobacco under the low roof at the Cross Keys end....)

Great to hear that Reece is back in action.
That looks a very strong "reserves" line-up, especially from nos 4-11, and emphasises the wisdom of running a 2nd-string, with the first X1 having been out of action last Saturday an ideal opportunity for a run-out (or half-a-one anyway!)

... and God bless those who braved the elements last night, my on-the-spot reporter tells me it was pretty frightening up there on the hill
Some of you might think twice before sallying forth to Atherstone tonight?!
